The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress

Here I am contemplating the night scene outside my apartment. I'm drawn to the mysterious sights and sounds that come after the sun goes down. The wind whispers through the trees, the crickets strike up their melancholy song, dogs click by on the concrete, and other cats sometimes meet in the shadows. I feel safe inside the door, yet I sometimes feel a longing to wander the dark lanes around my home. For now, though, I'm content to be an observer. The two-legged one really needs me to watch over her and as I've said before, she's not bad for a human. She says that she'd take me outside if I put on a harness and a leash. This strikes me as indicative of some sort of fetish of the TLO's but I will take it under advisement.

Dear Miss Kitty,

Regards the leash, please note that these are for the TLO's convenience only because at no point of time should you consider walking on a leash. If a leash is to be used, you will have to be carried at all times.

Sincerely,

GK

Miss Kitty - we think that the leash might be needed for you to walk the TLO... however, neither of us has one.

LEASH!!! HA they are for dogs!! If you want to go out, make her carry you or just come play outside with me. I've got a cat door & we can come back in whenever we need to!

We all like to look out at the night. There is something exotic and enticing about it. You are standing up so straight! You need to train your mom like we did ours to put a stool or low table under the window for your convenience.

Gigolo Kitty - Me not keen on the two-legged one carrying me anywhere. Too scary to allow her that much control over me. Must remain independent!

Mia and Ghost - I'm thinking about putting the TLO on an exercise program. Making her wear the leash seems like a great idea.

Scooby, Shaggy, and Scout - The TLO put a stool in front of the door but because she wanted me to sit on it, I wouldn't. Yep, I'm contrary like that sometimes. She pushed it by the side door to get it out of the way so I decided to sit on it and look out that door. Fooled you TLO!

Oreo - I'm looking for the car keys right now!

Miss Kitty, I can identify very much with your thoughts. There is no door for me to look out of, but I love to sit in the screened window and look out on the street below. I also think I would like to go out and explore, but then a truck goes by or someone makes a loud noise and I have to jump down and hide for a minute. So I think I'm still better off inside for now, looking out. I would like to look out that door with you!

Hi Miss Kitty,

Harnesses and leashes are good things. They mean that you can go exploring outside with your TLO. If you get scared or something, the TLO can pick you up and take you back inside. The harness and leash make sure that you won't get lost and that you will stay with your TLO. You wouldn't want to run off and get lost and lose such a good home, would you?

Mom and Dad tried the harness and leash thing with me when I was a kitten ... I had a tendency to lie down and attack the leash and never made much progress, except for the time they took me out in the snow. Snow?!? What were they thinking?

Jolie Noir Perle - What a pretty name! The squirrels around here are kind of puny but I'll keep an eye out.

Mattingly - The sound that bothers me the most is when people walk by wearing shoes that make a loud noise on the sidewalk. It sounds like they're going to march right into MY house. Stay away interlopers!

Indy Pindy - I'd like to try it some day, but I'm still pretty reluctant to let the TLO handle me. We shall see what the future brings.

Jasper - Sounds like you were being a playful, silly kitty. What am I saying, I'M a playful, silly kitty! I'll warn the TLO.
