'Tis the Season

Last night, it snowed pretty much for the first time this winter here in Northern Virginia. I'm all comfy on my fleecy pad, contemplating how nice it is to be safe in a home with the two-legged one. This time last year, I was living outside my foster mother's home. I'd show up at her front porch at midnight and she'd put food out for me. I was so scared of people that I wouldn't let her get close to me. I'd just meow my thanks for the food, eat, and hide in the bushes again. It got so cold after a while that she created a shelter for me with a heating pad inside. I gladly took up residence inside it. She was such a nice lady! Now, I've got a home with the TLO who has been trained to anticipate my every need. Life is good. It is my wish for the holiday season that all cats, dogs, bunnies, and humans will be in a safe, warm place and know that they are loved.

That's a wonderful wish Miss Kitty, I'm so glad you have such a wonderful home now! I have thick double coat of fur, so I could sleep outside, but I still prefer to be nice and comfy inside.

One lady in our Husky rescue said that she "lost" one of her dogs the other night becuase it was snowing a LOT in Syracuse, and her Husky went to sleep outside and got covered with snow!

You look nice and snuggly on your pad. Very happy that you decided to trust the TLO's and come inside where we rule.

Our neighbor kitty is our alot. His TLO's are dumb and forget about him all the time. Mom gives him food and she made a shelter for him too. It's gonna be 10 below zero tonight, but she thinks he's inside tonight.

Hi IndyPindy - Sounds like your fur would make a really nice fuzzy blankie. Before you get upset, there are apparently knitters who can take the fur that doggies shed and turn it into nice stuff. Does you mom knit IndyPindy?

Derby - Hi Sassy Cat! Thanks for stopping by. The TLO can be weird sometimes and she hogs the computer sometimes, but overall, she's a good servant.

Edsel - Hello handsome! Supporting a local shelter is a great idea! I'm going to tell the TLO not to forget to give this holiday season. BTW, the TLO and her siblings graduated from Berkley High in 1972, 1974, 1976, 1977, and 1978. I think that they're all pretty ancient.

William - Good to hear from you. Yes, I'm enjoying snuggling with the TLO before she goes to work in the morning and then when she sits down to watch the glowing box in the evening.

Hi 3 Sss - Oh that makes me so mad to hear about that neighbor kitty!! Thank goodness for nice folks like your mom. Maybe those humans don't know any beter, but it shouldn't be too hard to understand that cold weather is uncomfortable at best for most creatures.

Hi George, Tipper and Max - Thanks so much for visiting my blog. It looks like you kitties are blessed too. Humans can be pretty cool, eh?

Hello Diva Kitty - Thank you. I'm happy most of the time, but I think things might be better if I had some bunnies to keep me company...Are you listening Santa?

Sheriff Jinky - Oh, I feel so honored that the Sheriff Kitty took time off from his important duties to visit my blog. We are all snug and warm inside. I keep a close eye on the TLO to make sure that she's not slacking off.

Hi Jasper - I love all the pictures of you guys and the Christmas tree. Hey TLO! Where's my tree?

My sweet Oreo - Right back atcha big guy!

Miss Kitty, we are so happy you are in a safe and warm home. Tell your mom thank you for sharing your story. You look so snuggly in your photo!

We, like you, were all rescued by our mom. Tanner & Blackie were kittens found alone in a garden hose. They did not even have their eyes open yet. Mom knocked on the door of the little old man's house, of the yard the garden hose was in....and he said they were not his. Mom just scooped the B & T up and took them straight to the vet....the rest is history!

As for me, Miss S, I was running through mom's alley as a kitten and mom spotted me once. For days she watched for me and spent lots of time in the alley...in December. She began leaving food out for me and eventually I let her pet me while I ate. Then one day while I was eating, she sneaked up and quickly put me in a carrier. Off to the vet we went and ....the rest is history. I am still jumpy and feral-ish...but I love getting pets and I snuggle with Blackie all the time!

We are a big happy family and love to visit your blog.
Meow from all of us in the Toasty South, Miss Kitty!
